To determine the fire resistance duration of X-fix C timber connectors used to connect cross-laminated timber and glued laminated timber elements with a thickness of 120 mm, a fire resistance test was carried out on October 14, 2024 in the testing laboratory of the IBS – Institute for Fire Protection Technology and Safety Research Society mbH in Linz.
Two cross-laminated timber elements and two glued laminated timber elements with a thickness of 120 mm were tested using X-fix C timber connectors, and their space-enclosing effect was assessed. Part of the ceiling and the X-fix timber connector were sealed with an airtight adhesive film. The fire exposure was applied from the underside.
