As part of the course Timber Construction Internship 1, a covered timber rack for storing oak sawn timber was erected at the Institute for Timber Construction and Wood Technology in Graz. The structure consists exclusively of wood-to-wood connections and was made using residual materials from previous test series – a successful example of sustainable resource use.
The rack was specially adapted to the requirements of the institute staff. Particular attention was paid to the execution of sophisticated timber joints – from traditional mortise and tenon joints to the conical split clamping dowels from X-fix Wood Connector GmbH.
A practical project that combines functionality, craftsmanship, and research.
